The American Tobacco Trail is a walking/running/biking trail running from downtown Durham to the terminus of the New Hope Valley railroad. The American Tobacco Trail website can be found at http://www.triangletrails.org/ATT.HTM. It is easily accessible from either terminus and is quite a long trail (some 22+ miles). Most of the trail is completed except for some sections that are currently under construction in Chatham county. The southern terminus is near the end of the New Hope Valley railroad, a recreational passenger railroad. The southern terminus has a large parking lot with restrooms and trail information for users. I have seen people riding horses, bikes, jogging and walking.
